Heavy rain continues to cause mayhem, more forecast today

Despite some hours of respite from consistent rain on Thursday, heavy rains were reported in various parts of the State and more is forecast across the State on Friday. The State administration has ordered a holiday in all educational institutions on July 14 and 15 in view of heavy rains forecast. The State meteorological centre has issued a warning (take action) regarding the possibility of very heavy to extremely heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places with heavy to very heavy rain at a few places in Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts today.
The centre has also issued an alert regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Almora, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Friday. An alert (watch) has also been issued regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts today. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense/very intense spells are likely to occur at isolated places in the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in the districts.
Dehradun is forecast to experience partly to generally cloudy sky. One or two spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur, which may be intense in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 32 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Friday.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Thursday were 31.4 degrees Celsius and 22.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Derhadun, 28.2 degrees Celsius and 27.2 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 17.5 degree Celsius and 15.8 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 21.6 degrees Celsius and 15.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Kotdwar received 114 millimetres on rain while there was 89 millimetres rain in Ramnagar, 86.5 in Bajpur, 75 millimetres in Kaladhungi, 52.5 millimetres in Pantnagar abd 6.4 millimetres in Dehradun on Thursday.
