Guv’s wife Kaur attends 57th AWWA Day celebration

Uttarakhand Sub Area Family Welfare Organisation celebrated the 57th Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) Day on Wednesday to commemorate the contribution of the wives in the lives of the army personnel.
The organisers informed that the celebrations in Dehradun were spread over three days from August 21 to 23. The events included professional workshops on benefits of millets, marital wellness, entitlement benefits to the armed forces personnel and mental health.
After these events, a medical camp was also organised where general health check up, pap smear test and eye and dental check up for the wives of the army personnel were carried out.
The main event, organised on Wednesday, was attended by the wife of the Governor Lieutenant Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), Gurmit Kaur. Fourteen Veer Naris were felicitated by Kaur with cash awards on the occasion. She also visited the stalls exhibiting handmade products made by the Veer Naris and appreciated the efforts of AWWA in generating employment for them. Wives of several senior army officers were present at the event.
Notably, Uttarakhand Sub Area Family Welfare Organisation works for the welfare of the wives, children and dependents of the army personnel and also for the Veer Naris with its focus areas being health, personal care, education, empowerment, wellness, overall growth and improvement in quality of life. AWWA focuses primarily on the welfare of families, children and widows of all ranks of the army personnel, including those of the retired army personnel.
