In latest Uttarakhand news, the Kathgodam police busted a beer smuggling racket and recovered several cartons of illegal beer. A person was arrested. Sharing details, police officers privy to the details said that illegal beer was being transported through a car where beer bottles were kept, hidden behind a sheet. As the cops on a checking drive near Gaula bridge signalled a speeding car, coming from Banbhoolpura, to stop the driver increased the speed. Thereafter, the police team started following it. But the cops failed to get the car stopped. However, the driver had to reduce the speed at the breaker put up at Kunwarpur trisection and police car overtook it. As the car was stopped, the driver tried to flee, but police nabbed him. As the police team searched the car, 35 cartons, containing 460 beer bottles, were found. During interrogation, the driver identified himself as Hamid Hussain, resident of Azadnagar, Banbhoolpura. Police lodged a case against the accused.
