Mayor launches development works worth crores in five wards

The Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development works worth crores of rupees in five wards of the city. He first reached Malsi ward at 10 AM where he inaugurated and launched development works of over Rs 50 lakh. He then reached Vijaypur ward and laid the foundation stone of development works worth about Rs 55 lakh. After that, he reached three other wards- Doon Vihar, MDDA Park and Deepnagar and laid the foundation stones of development works of about Rs 1.25 crore, Rs 55 lakh and Rs 48 lakh respectively.

The mayor laid the foundation stone of the community hall in Deepnagar ward along with Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli. Addressing people in these wards, the mayor said that the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has worked consistently and seriously for the development of all wards in the past 4.5 years. The corporation has carried out development works worth over Rs 350 crore in the city. ‘Gama’ said that  MCD has been consistently carrying out new development works in each ward to provide them with the best facilities. He said that he had a strong determination to provide better facilities to the residents of the city since he took the oath as the city’s mayor.

The corporation has worked quite well regarding sanitation conditions in the city as it has always been the main focus. Dehradun got 384th position in Swachchh Survekshan in 2018 and now the city is in the top 100 cleanest cities of the country by getting 69th position in SS 22 which is a big achievement and shows the MCD’s dedication and focus on the city’s cleanliness. The mayor further said that the city’s street lights system has also been improved as MCD has installed 6,000 new electricity poles and 65,000 street lights. “In order to continue the development of wards, I laid the foundation stones of development works worth crores of rupees which will also play a crucial role in giving the best facilities to the locals, ” he added.
