The Dehradun police seized 34 hand carts and 15 rings put up by shopkeepers to display their wares on the roadside as part of its operation Flying Hawk. The action was taken by the police on the basis of information provided by the drone control room. This action was taken on the directions of Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh against temporary encroachments hindering the smooth flow of traffic. It will be recalled that the police have recently started using drones to monitor and penalise traffic violations along with checking encroachments hampering the flow of traffic on city roads. Based on the information provided by the drone control room, the police seized 34 hand carts and 15 rings encroaching on the roads. These were obstructing the smooth flow of traffic on busy roads in the provisional State capital. The campaign will continue in the future, the police said. It is pertinent to mention here that traffic congestion has become a major issue affecting routine life in Dehradun. Both permanent and temporary encroachments are among the major factors responsible for the rising traffic congestion in the city.
