The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh on Monday suspended two police post in-charges due to alleged negligence in the attack on the police team in Mussoorie on Saturday night. Due to their initial negligence, the accused attacked the police in which sub-inspector Mithun Kumar was shot in the stomach, the SSP said.
The SI was shot in Mussoorie late on Saturday when the police were searching for the accused Subham (27) who had allegedly shot his wife who was found unconscious near Badasi Bridge on Thano Road in Dehradun on January 13. He had also allegedly killed his father in Haryana’s Sonipat in September last year. The police came to know about his stay in Mussoorie during the investigation and started checking several hotels and home stays on Saturday. When the police reached Sakshi Home Stay and found the accused’s name in the register, they proceeded to check his room but he shot at the police in which the SI got shot and Shubham escaped.
The SI was hospitalised and his health is currently stable, as per the officials. It was being claimed that the police team conducting the checking was not sufficiently prepared to tackle such an attack. Taking cognisance of the matter, the SSP on Monday issued orders to suspend station house officers Jaiveer Singh and Sunil Negi of Mayur Vihar post and Balawala post respectively citing negligence by both the officers in the said incident.
