Alert- very heavy rainfall likely in six districts today

Various parts of Uttarakhand witnessed light and moderate to heavy rain till Sunday morning. The State meteorological centre has issued an orange alert regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Pauri, Haridwar, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts on Monday. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning regarding the possibility of heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places in Tehri, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts today. Further, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in the State. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in the State today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. A few spells of rain/thundershowers are likely to occur with the possibility of one or two spells being intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 33 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
Meanwhile, light to heavy rain was recorded in the State till 8:30 AM on Sunday with 72 millimetres in Chamoli, 67.5 millimetres in Vikasnagar, 55 millimetres in Nainital, 45 millimetres in Kathgodam, 44 millimetres in Ukhimath, 40.5 millimetresin Haldwani and 11.4 millimetres in Dehradun. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Sunday were 33.8 degrees Celsius and 25.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 34.7 degrees Celsius and 26.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 23.5 degrees Celsius and 15.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 26.4 degrees Celsius and 18.7 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
