Rawat orders action on illegal pathology centres in State

Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has directed the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) to take action against illegal pathology centres and laboratories operational in the State. The minister has asked the Health department to start a checking drive of the pathology centres and blood collection centres.
He said that the verification and checking of private pathology labs will be done in the State to ensure that they do not play with the lives of the people.
The minister said that he has received many complaints against the private pathology labs in the State and the facts produced by the complainants are very disturbing. He said that large numbers of complaints about illegal pathology labs are from Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar and Pauri districts. These labs do not have doctors and employees as per the Clinical Establishment Act. The minister added that many labs are operational in the State which are not registered under the Clinical Establishment Act. He said that illegal pathology labs will be identified and strict action will be taken against them.
