Dehradun city is set to get its second largest park within the next three weeks, currently under construction in the Kedarpuram area. The park, which will serve as a dedicated space for Yoga and recreational activities, is expected to be the first project to be inaugurated by the newly elected mayor following the municipal elections scheduled for January 23.
According to Dehradun municipal commissioner Namami Bansal, the Kedarpuram park will be the largest in the city after Gandhi Park. She revealed that the park will primarily focus on Yoga and wellness while also featuring an amphitheatre and various other facilities. “This park will be a significant addition to the city, promoting health and community engagement,” Bansal said.
However, the construction process has reportedly faced delays due to irregularities by the company tasked with the project under the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD). In response, the MCD has issued an ultimatum, directing the company to complete the project within two weeks. The park’s completion is now a priority for the civic body, ensuring it is ready for inauguration in February, she said.
Bansal stated that the Kedarpuram park promises to provide Dehradun residents with a modern, well-equipped green space, marking a milestone in urban development efforts. As the city prepares for its upcoming municipal elections, the park’s anticipated inauguration by the new mayor is set to symbolise the start of a fresh chapter in Dehradun’s growth. Bansal said.
