PCC president Mahara condemns effigy blast protest

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has taken strong exception to the viral video in which the effigy of the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt was blasted with crackers.

Mahara said that the incident is not a good sign for the State and the country. “You can have a difference of opinion with someone and you have every right to register a protest but this type of protest is highly deplorable and unacceptable. Such incidents increase social disharmony and dischor,’’ he said.

The PCC president demanded that the administration should take cognisance of the incident and take appropriate action against the culprits.

It is pertinent to mention here that a video went viral on Tuesday in which some protesters belonging to the Uttarakhand Berozgar Sangh blasted an effigy of State BJP president Bhatt. The State BJP president is under attack from different quarters in the State after his recent statement in which he had said that  the Gairsain march programme was organised by some Sadak Chapp leaders.

Many organisations had given a call for Gairsain march in support of the demand to remove Finance and Parliamentary Affairs minister Prem Chand Aggarwal from the cabinet of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for using abusive language against people of mountainous areas of the State inside Vidhan Sabha during the budget session.
