Women’s safety, empowerment, nutrition and child protection will be the focus of the two-day departmental conference to be held in New Delhi on October 8 and 9, said Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) department minister Rekha Arya.

Arya held a meeting with departmental officials on Tuesday regarding preparations for the conference. During the meeting, she held a point-wise discussion with officials on the preparations and programme outline. She directed them to effectively present the important work being done by the State in the field of women and child development during the conference.

She said that the national conference will focus on important topics such as women’s safety, women’s empowerment, Anganwadi system, nutrition and child protection. Best practices and experiences of various states will be shared at the conference, providing states an opportunity to learn from each other’s work and implement schemes effectively.

Arya said the conference is an important opportunity for Uttarakhand. Through it, the State’s work in women and child development will be shared at the national level, while also getting an opportunity to learn about best practices from other States. This will help make women and child welfare schemes in Uttarakhand more effective, she said.

She added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance and suggestions in the closing session of the conference will give a new direction to the country and will also be inspirational for the States.
