A youth was run over by the speeding Ranikhet Express going from Delhi to Kathgodam near Indira Nagar railway gate in Haldwani on Tuesday morning. Another youth was critically injured in the accident. Sources said that they were walking on the tracks when the train came over them, adding that the incident had happened at around 5 am. Both the youths were immediately brought to Haldwani railway station from where they were rushed to Susheela Tiwari Government Hospital with the help of GRP.
During treatment, Zeeshan (20), resident of Kanta Shani Bazaar Road, Indira Nagar, died while Mohsin (25), resident of UttarUjala, was critical. Later, he was referred to a hospital in Bareilly.
Police said that the post-mortem of the deceased was being done, adding that investigation into the causes of the accident was on.
