The Rajkiya Shikshak Sangh (RSS) plans to gherao the Education minister’s residence on November 1 due to protest against unfulfillment of their long-standing demands. According to the union officials, a virtual meeting was held with the presidents of both divisions of the RSS and the executive committee presidents from all 13 districts on Friday. During this meeting, it was highlighted that despite assurances from the chief minister, no solutions were found even after two rounds of discussions with the government. As a result, the RSS has decided to gherao the Education minister’s residence in Dehradun on November 1.
Officials said that, after several rounds of talks, attempts to mislead them have led to significant anger among teachers across the State and all are committed to participating in the said programme. It was also decided in the meeting that officials from the block level to the State level must attend the rally without fail. They will also keep track of the number of representatives from their respective development blocks and districts. Additionally, it was determined that they will not celebrate the traditional Igas festival this year, they added.
Notably, the RSS’ demands include 100 per cent promotions, the cancellation and transfer of principal departmental direct recruitment and action on their 34-point demand letter.
