Winter Carnival to be held in Nainital from Dec 22 to 26

Acting on the directive of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to all district magistrates to ensure year-round tourism across the State, the Nainital district administration is drawing up a special plan for tourists visiting Nainital.

Announcing this here at a press conference, the additional district magistrate Vivek Roy said that the district administration is preparing a special plan to further boost the winter tourism. According to Roy, a detailed plan is being prepared for traffic management on December 31 so that tourists face minimum inconvenience. Along with this, efforts would be made to make local products prepared by House of Himalayas and the women available to tourists through home stays.

He further informed that Winter Carnival would be organised in Nainital from December 22 to 26 which would feature a string of events and programmes, including trekking, rock climbing and bird watching. Along with film stars, the local artists would also perform, he said.

Moreover, World Bird Watching programme will be organised at Tumriya Dam in Ramnagar in February while paragliding will be organised in Bhimtal and Kotabagh and flower related events will be organised in Mukteshwar. This aside, astro programmes will be organised through Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) in Devsthal and tourism activities will be promoted in Mukteshwar, Bhateliya and Ramgarh.  

During the press conference, the sub- divisional magistrate Nawazish Khaliq and district Tourism development officer Atul Bhandari were present.
