Police launch weekly cleanliness drive across district

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE /Dehradun

The Dehradun Police carried out a cleanliness drive on its premises across the district on Sunday following the directions of Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ajai Singh. Under this initiative, police personnel performed one hour of voluntary labour in all police stations and police outposts in both urban and rural areas.

It will be recalled that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had conducted a surprise inspection of the Dalanwala police station in the recent past and pulled up officials for the level of cleanliness. After this, the Dehradun SSP issued instructions to all police stations to carry out cleanliness drives every Sunday.

During the drive, police staff cleaned police station premises, offices, barracks, dining areas and lock-ups. Important files, records and registers were also arranged properly. In addition, weapons kept in the armoury were cleaned and maintained to ensure safety and readiness. Police officials said that the cleanliness drive is part of a regular effort to maintain hygiene and discipline in police buildings. Singh also instructed senior officers to conduct surprise inspections of police stations and outposts to check cleanliness and other arrangements.
