Anganwadi workers from Pauri serve memorandum to CM

Under the banner of Anganwadi Workers/Sevikas/Mini Employees Organisation Uttarakhand, a memorandum was submitted to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the departmental minister  Rekha Arya through the office of the Dehradun district magistrate following  a one-day rally staged by the Anganwadi workers from Pauri district here on Monday to press their demands. Informing this, the Pauri district president Pinki Singh said that all the Anganwadi workers from the district had participated in the rally.

Asked about the demands which figured in the memorandum, she said that  the honorarium of Anganwadi workers should be increased by Rs 140 per day by the State government and a
proposal of Rs150 per day increase should be sent to the Central government. “Besides,
the proposal to deduct Rs 300 should be passed by the department only after the GO is issued to give Rs 10 lakh to Anganwadi workers on retirement without fulfilling any eligibility criteria. Otherwise, Rs 300 should not be deducted from our accounts,” she said.

Another demand which was included in the memorandum was that the Anganwadi workers should not be linked to biometric machines. Addressing the sit-in, the leaders of the outfit said that they would no longer put up with their
exploitation.
