Moving a step forward, the Haldwani forest division organised a day-long workshop in self-defence and personal safety for women on Thursday. The workshop was conducted for the department’s women field staff to enhance their preparedness in handling challenging situations.
Trainers including sub-inspector Kumkum Dhanik and Sunita Sepal from Kathgodam police, along with Navya Pandey, a jujutsu player and forest ranger, provided practical training on essential self-defense techniques. Participants learned skills such as escaping from grips, maintaining balance and responding effectively during emergencies.
Dhanik also educated the participants about legal provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and cybercrime awareness. Emphasis was laid on mental preparedness, alertness, and confidence. The workshop focused on building physical, mental, and emotional strength among women personnel, enabling them to ensure their own safety and respond effectively in critical situations.
