CS seeks a dedicated sanitation plan for Kumbh area in Haridwar

Chief secretary Anand Bardhan has directed the administration to develop a dedicated sanitation plan for the entire Kumbh Mela area. He gave the direction during a meeting with officials and departments concerned at the secretariat on Wednesday. In the meeting the CS reviewed the preparations for Kumbh Mela- 2027.
Bardhan said that millions of devotees from across the country and abroad will attend the Kumbh Mela. Therefore, it is crucial to quickly establish a special sanitation plan to ensure cleanliness throughout the event. He also stressed the importance of setting up a sufficient number of tourist information centres to minimise inconveniences for devotees and provide timely, accurate information.
Additionally, Bardhan inquired about the progress of various construction projects related to the Kumbh Mela. Expressing dissatisfaction with the delays in the release of government orders for these projects, he instructed that any objections be resolved and government orders be issued within the next three days.
He further directed that the land acquisition and allotment process for the Kumbh Mela be initiated immediately, stating that land allocated to various departments and institutions should be finalised by June 30. The CS directed the Garhwal commissioner to incorporate the land acquisition and allotment process into the Kumbh master plan.
The CS directed the Mela Adhikari, IG Kumbh and DRM Moradabad to convene a meeting soon to finalise plans for railway and road traffic in the Kumbh Mela area, ensuring that all basic requirements are met. He highlighted the need for the construction and repair of spurs and junctions being undertaken by NHAI and the Public Works department to be completed swiftly for the devotees arriving from Haridwar, Najibabad and Mangalore. The CS instructed the District magistrates to expand traffic plans and parking facilities in the districts surrounding the Kumbh area, along with the preparation of a contingency traffic plan. Proper arrangements for parking, accommodation, food and toilets should be ensured at the entry points into the State, with basic amenities at designated parking locations within the Kumbh Mela area, he directed.
CS also instructed the organisation of cultural programmes during the Kumbh Mela. He stated that this initiative would provide skilled artists from the State’s various folk arts an opportunity to showcase their culture to both the nation and international
