The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel saved seven visitors trapped in the middle of the Guchhupani river in Dehradun on Thursday evening after the water level of river had suddenly increased. All the rescued visitors are safe, said SDRF.
At around 4:18 PM, the disaster control room informed the SDRF that some visitors had been stuck after the water level of the river had suddenly increased. Soon after receiving the information, a rescue team from the SDRF post at Sahastradhara, led by the sub-inspector Manoj Joshi rushed to the spot with necessary equipment.
Initially, the officials were told that only three people were trapped. However, when the team reached the location, they found that seven visitors were stranded in the middle of the swollen river. Due to the strong water flow, they were stuck in an island-like area and looked scared. Things were risky for them as the water level continued to rise.
The SDRF team quickly started the rescue operation. Despite the strong current, the team managed to bring all seven people to safety.
