The Uttarakhand Char Dham Teerth Purohit Mahapanchayat has expressed concern at allegations of embezzlement of donations made to Badrinath Dham, stating that this would dent the image of the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee and also hurt the sentiments of the devotees. Demanding an impartial probe, the body demanded that the investigation report should be made public soon and strict action should be taken against those found guilty.
The Mahapanchayat’s head Suresh Semwal and general secretary Brijesh Sati said in a joint statement that the BKTC chairman had ordered two probes within one month. While the findings of the first probe have not been disclosed yet, a second investigation has been ordered. They stated that such instances hurt the religious sentiments of crores of followers of Sanatan Dharm and send a wrong message to the public. Strict action should be taken against acts which dent the image of Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham, they said. The Mahapanchayat suggested that stern actions should be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
