People living in villages under Okhalkanda block have been facing severe drinking water scarcity. While attending a meeting held at the panchayat house, the villagers said that with the pumping scheme and the Har Ghar Jal Yojana under the Jal Jeevan Mission remaining incomplete in their villages, they have not been able to avail the benefit of the water supply schemes.
They further said that despite two tanks with a capacity of 100,000 litres each and one with a capacity of 30,000 litres having been built under the scheme, they have already developed cracks. “We have to walk long distances daily to fetch drinking water,” said a villager who attended the meeting.
