Work to establish the State Cyber Coordination Centre (S4C) has started in Dehradun, a move aimed at strengthening Uttarakhand’s efforts to tackle rising cybercrime, said the senior superintendent of police, Special Task Force (STF), Ajai Singh.
He said that the State government has issued a notification for setting up the S4C. The building for the cyber headquarter has also been taken up, and preparations are underway to strengthen the state’s cybercrime fighting infrastructure.
According to Singh, more than 80 proposals have been sent to the government for strengthening the STF and improving its capacity to deal with cybercrime cases. Around 12 cyber experts will be required at the new headquarters to handle technical investigations and assist in tracking cyber criminals.
He said that the establishment of the S4C would improve coordination between different agencies and help the police respond more effectively to cybercrime. “The centre will also play an important role in analysing cyber related cases and sharing information,” Singh added.
After the S4C becomes operational, the State’s cyber police stations would also be strengthened, he said. At present, Uttarakhand has two cyber police stations, which deal with complaints and investigations related to online fraud and other cyber offences.
