Ahead of Teacher’s Day, Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker and Kotdwar MLA, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan felicitated the principals and teachers of private schools in Padampur under Kotdwar tehsil in Pauri district. While sharing memories of her student days and her time as a teacher, she said that teachers not only impart knowledge to students but also shape their personality, values and character.
“The first guru who shapes society is our mother, and the second guru is our teachers and elders. They build the future of the coming generation and so the future of society rests in their hands,” she said.
While paying tributes to the educationist and former President, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Khanduri said that his life is a great source of inspiration for every teacher in the country.
Speaking of the increased responsibility of teachers in the present times, the Speaker said that while modern education is essential, it is not be-all and end-all of education. “Along with modern education, it is essential to instil in students values, discipline and a sense of responsibility towards the nation,” she added.
The principals, teachers and other dignitaries of various private schools operating under Kotdwar Assembly constituency were present in the programme.
