Dog thrown off third floor to death in Doon

A dog died after allegedly being thrown from the third floor of a building at BSR Residency in Jhajhra under Premnagar police station, Dehradun. A complaint has been filed at the Jhajhara police chowki by an animal welfare activist, who has alleged cruelty and demanded strict action against those responsible.

The complaint was submitted by Pawan Tiwari on behalf of People for Animals (PFA). He said that this was not the first complaint of cruelty involving the same person and claimed that a previous dog and her three puppies had been poisoned.

As per the complaint lodged on Friday, the dog was known to be gentle and was not aggressive towards residents. The complainant stated that the dog was seen on the third floor before it died. The person questioned about the incident allegedly said that the dog had been removed after its death.

The complainant also said that CCTV footage of the building was requested to establish what happened, but access to the footage was refused. The complaint further claimed that the owner avoided questions when contacted.

The Premnagar police station in-charge Naresh Rathore said that police have registered an FIR on the basis of Tiwari’s complaint. Rathore said that Premnagar police have started an investigation in this matter soon after investion action would be taken.
