To ensure a safe and well-organised Kumbh Mela 2027, infrastructure development work is progressing rapidly in the 32-sector fair area spread across four districts of the state, including Haridwar, said the Mela officer Sonika while giving details of the preparations at a press briefing held on Tuesday. “Approximately Rs 709.23 crore has been approved so far for the Kumbh-related projects. The fair administration has completed preparations to accelerate construction work on a war footing as soon as the monsoon season ends,” she said, adding that all major works are proceeding according to the timeline set and would be completed on schedule.
She further said that the administration’s priority is not only completing the construction, but also ensuring quality, timeliness, convenience, safety, accessibility and orderliness.
“Works related to roads, bridges, ghats, parking, drinking water, electricity, medical facilities, sanitation, transportation, and beautification are being undertaken for the Kumbh. Several important infrastructure projects, including five major bridges, are underway. Special emphasis is also being placed on footpaths, ghat expansion and internal road improvements for the convenience of pilgrims,” she said.
Dressing and levelling work for temporary arrangements has begun in all 32 sectors of the fair area.
The Mela officer stated that a multi-layered system has been installed to monitor the quality and progress of the work. “Furthermore, under the concept of Green Kumbh, special attention is being paid to environmental protection, water conservation, energy efficiency and waste management,” Sonika informed.
