Ahead of the Supreme Court hearing in the Vanbhulpura railway land encroachment case to be held today on Wednesday, the Nainital police have tightened security in the area. To maintain law and order, the police conducted a flag march and area domination in this area of Haldwani. A large number of police, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC, and other security forces have been deployed as a precautionary measure.
According to the police, the final decision on the Vanbhulpura encroachment case is still pending in the Supreme Court and a hearing is scheduled for Wednesday. In view of this, Nainital senior superintendent of police Manjunath TC has directed subordinate officers to make necessary arrangements to maintain peace and law and order in the area.
The police conducted flag marches in various sensitive areas including Railway Station, Indranagar Badi Road, Mujahid Chowk, Gopal Mandir, Thokar, Shani Bazaar Road, Chhoti Road Indranagar, Taj Masjid, Gandhinagar, Chorgalia Road, Taj Chowraha, Bhardwaj Chowraha and Railway Station Gate, among other areas.
Police have continued area domination operations in the region, intensified preventive detentions and verification campaigns against suspects. Checks are being conducted in sensitive areas, and the entire area is being monitored using CCTV cameras and special drones.
The flag march was led by Nainital superintendent of police Jagdish Chandra and supervised by Haldwani SP (City) Manoj Kumar Katyal along with officers and staff from the police, PAC, anti-riot team, BDS, fire and drone teams were present.
TC appealed to the residents of the area to respect the Supreme Court’s decision and cooperate with the administration in further action. He urged people to maintain peace and ignore any rumors.
The SSP clarified that the police are also continuously monitoring social media platforms. A warning has been issued to avoid posts and comments that are misleading, baseless, or spread rumors that could impact law and order. Strict legal action will be taken against those found involved in such activities.
