Chief secretary Anand Bardhan physically inspected the construction and other works underway in different areas of Haridwar for Ardh Kumbh -2027 on Thursday. He travelled from one site to another, from Rodi-Belwala to Roshanabad via Kankhal-Dakshdweep-Bairagi Camp to CCR Tower to inspect the progress of construction works. He inquired about the progress, quality, technical aspects, utility and the stipulated time frame of the ongoing works.
On a stern note, the CS directed the officers that all the works related to the Kumbh Mela -2027 must be completed within the stipulated timeframe and that quality must not be compromised at any level. He called for regular review and on-site monitoring of work with special attention paid to projects where the pace is slow.
“ A large number of devotees from India and abroad are expected to arrive in Haridwar for the Kumbh Mela- 2027. Therefore, all work related to roads, bridges, footpaths, drinking water, health, parking, administrative and other infrastructure facilities must be completed on time. During construction activities, the convenience of the public and local citizens, traffic management and safety standards must also be fully considered,’’ he said.
The CS averred that coordinated efforts by all the departments are essential for the success of the Kumbh Mela -2027. “Officials must work as a team to achieve set goals on time, ensuring safe, accessible and organized facilities are provided to pilgrims during the fair,’’ he said.
Mela officer, Sonika briefed the CS about the construction works and other preparations related to the Kumbh Mela. She claimed that all the works are progressing as per the set timeline and the progress and quality are being continuously monitored at multiple levels.
Sonika further informed that the safety audit of the bridges in the Kumbh area has been done by the concerned departments and IIT Roorkee has also been requested to inspect the bridges. She informed that in addition to the agency appointed for quality inspection of the CCR-2 building, it has been decided to get the quality inspection done by the Central Building Research Institute as well.
Garhwal commissioner Anand Swaroop, IG (Kumbh) Yogendra Singh Rawat, district magistrate Mayur Dixit, SSP Haridwar Navneet Bhullar, SSP (Kumbh) Ayush Agarwal and other senior officers of the State administration accompanied the CS.
