A car carrying three people fell into a 100-metre-deep gorge on the Chakrata-Tyuni motor road near Chillad on Friday evening. The footage of the car’s dashcam surfaced on social media on Sunday after the accident.
The video shows the driver losing control at a sharp turn before hitting an electricity pole and falling into the gorge. One person died in the accident, while two others were seriously injured. The deceased was identified as Durgesh Chaudhary. The injured were identified as Sunil Mandal and Rishabh. They were taken to the Community Health Centre in Tyuni for treatment.
Passersby heard the screams of the injured and informed the police. Due to the depth of the gorge, the police called the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team for help. SDRF personnel from the Tyuni post descended into the gorge using ropes and rescued the injured. The police are examining the footage to determine the cause of the accident.
