PR dept digitally transfers Rs 85 crore in account of Panchayats

In sync with the Digital India policy propounded by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Panchayati Raj department of Uttarakhand transferred a sum of Rs 85 Crore into the bank accounts of three tier Panchayati Raj bodies of the state with a click of the mouse on Friday. The amount is the first installment of the untied grant of the central Finance commission for the year 2021-22 to the state.
The secretary of Panchayati Raj department, H C Semwal said that Rs 63.75 crore was digitally transferred to village Panchayats, Rs 8.50 crore to the BlockPanchayats and Rs 12.75 crore to District Panchayats through Public Finance Management System (PFMS).
He said that anyone can log on the website of the department www.ukprgov.in to get information about the money transferred to the account of their Panchayati Raj body. Semwal said that the department is following a totally transparent system and information about budget received from central finance, state finance and other sources on their mobile phones. They can also get information about the development activities in their villages and their status, he added. Semwal said that the Panchayats can use the sum transferred on the developmental activities and the anti Covid 19 activities such as setting up quarantine centres, sanitation and drinking water and others. He said that the ministry of Panchayati Raj, government of India has appreciated the initiative taken by Uttarakhand in digitally transferring the grants to Panchayats.
