PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
The State Forest minister, Subodh Uniyal participated in a programme organised by the Dehradun branch of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) here on Tuesday and shared his views on the subject of paper and plastic based packaging.
“Considering today’s global needs, moving towards eco-friendly and sustainable packaging is the need of the hour. Paper and plastic based packaging are the most used in our lives and have a huge impact on the environment. While paper is reusable and biodegradable, single use plastic is becoming a major cause of environmental crisis,” he said.
Lauding the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s single-use plastic ban initiative as visionary, Uniyal said that India is now not only moving towards cleanliness but also playing an important role in building a green and sustainable future.
