All households in Uttarakhand will receive tap water supply by December this year under the Jal Jeevan Mission. The Central government shared this information in response to a question raised in Parliament by BJP State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt. The Centre also informed that over the past five years, lakhs of farmers in the State have received nearly Rs 1,000 crore in crop insurance support.
During the session, Bhatt asked an unstarred question to the Ministry of Jal Shakti regarding the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the State. Minister of State for Jal Shakti, V Somanna responded that the mission is being implemented with the participation of states and union territories to ensure tap water supply to every rural household. In August 2019, at the start of the mission, only 1.30 lakh rural households in Uttarakhand had tap water connections. Since then, 12.84 lakh more rural households have been connected under the mission. As of 22 July 2025, 14.14 lakh out of 14.49 lakh rural households in the state have tap water supply.
In another unstarred question, Bhatt sought details about the implementation of the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme in Uttarakhand. Responding to the question, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ramnath Thakur said that from 2020–21 to 2024–25, the scheme has benefitted 6.85 lakh farmers in the State. During this period, Rs 965.7 crore has been disbursed as compensation for crop losses.
Bhatt also raised a question to the Ministry of Civil Aviation regarding new destinations under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS). Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol replied that 60 RCS routes have been made operational to connect 13 airports and heliports in Uttarakhand.
