The Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that unaccounted wealth being found with the former OSD of the then chief minister Harish Rawat shows that the Congress has been involved in corruption. BJP State spokesman and MLA Vinod Chamoli said that Rawat resigning from posts in the Congress is just a drama to gain sympathy within the party. “Questioning the timing of the action by the authorities shows the intent to gain political benefit. Action against the corrupt should be taken irrespective of the time, as is being done by the State government under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami with several members of the copy mafia behind the bars,” he said.
Targetting the Congress and the former CM, Chamoli said that the Congress has always been involved in corruption, which was been clarified once again following the Enforcement Directorate raid. An impartial investigation into the UKSSSC recruitment scam during the term of the Congress government is underway and layers of the corruption are being unravelled with the links reaching to the then CM’s close aides and those near them. The Congress governments always encouraged the copy mafia and corruption in the recruitment process for government jobs. “They hacked the recruitment process and robbed the youth of their future. However, our government will not spare anyone involved in corruption. All will face justice based on a fair and impartial investigation. Meanwhile, Rawat offering to resign is just a political drama. He is scripting this drama as part of his politics based on sympathy and pressure tactics simply to gain sympathy within the party and pressurise its high command. He has been sidelined in his own party for the past many years with even junior leaders ignoring him. The Congress high command too has distanced itself from him to such an extent that no senior leader enquired about him while he had been ailing in Delhi for some time. In Uttarakhand, the BJP government under CM Dhami has zero tolerance for corruption which brought a strict anti-copying law. More than 34,000 persons have been appointed to government jobs in a transparent and fair manner so far while many persons involved in recruitment malpractices are in jail,” Chamoli said.
The BJP leader further said that those questioning the timing of the ED action are admitting that some wrongdoings were committed. Strict action should be taken if the future of the youth has been tampered, irrespective of the time.
