Bounty criminal from Rajasthan arrested in Doon by STF

The Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a wanted criminal, who originally hails from Rajasthan, from Dehradun during Operation Prahar. The accused had been absconding for the last 12 years after committing a robbery in Rajasthan.

Police said that the accused has been identified as Devesh Maurya, a resident of New Vasant Vihar, Dehradun. He was living in Dehradun and working as a security guard in a private security agency, police said.

According to STF officials, a case under robbery and kidnapping charges was registered against him in Banswara district of Rajasthan in 2014. Rajasthan Police had announced a reward of Rs 20,000 for his arrest. Police teams had raided several places over the years, but he could not be caught

After receiving secret information, the STF team traced the accused and arrested him from the Cantt area of Dehradun. After completing legal formalities, he was handed over to Rajasthan Police.

Police said that the accused and his associate had in 2014 called a man by pretending to be an LIC agent in Banswara. Later, they had allegedly threatened him with a revolver, confined him inside his own vehicle at gunpoint  and robbed him before fleeing.
