The principal of Bharatiya Shaheed Sainik Vidyalaya, Bishan Singh Mehta was felicitated at a programme held in Bhimtal on the occasion of the Teachers’ Day in recognition of his significant contribution in the field of education. Among those who felicitated the educator were the district chief development officer, Anamika Singh and chief education officer, Govind Ram Jaiswal.
Notably, the principal formed a Chholia Dal in the school for the preservation and promotion of folk culture. Apart from this, he started training for playing folk musical instruments like Mashkbin, Dhol, Damau and Hudka. Also, he arranged books for the students preparing for competitive examinations. Further, a scholarship scheme has been launched for players of various games like hockey, football and basketball. Mehta also contributed significantly in starting the first girl’s football tournament in Nainital town.
