Haridwar police foil youth’s suicide attempt PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Haridwar

Police’s timely intervention saved the life of a young man who was attempting to commit suicide. Upon receiving the information that a 20-year-old man from Shyampur area was trying to hang himself from the ceiling fan in a room in Chandi Ghat Basti, a team from Shyampur police station rushed to the spot and brought him down while keeping him engaged in conversation.  

Police said that the youth had been in depression for a long time. While one of his sisters is mentally retarded his mother has been suffering from an advanced stage of blood cancer.

The youth was later brought to the Chandi Ghat police post and was counselled.
