State govt raises retirement age of specialist doctors to 65

In latest news from Doon, in the light of the mountainous State grappling long with the shortage of specialist doctors, the Uttarakhand government raised the superannuation age of such doctors in the health and medical education department from the current 60 to 65 years.   

Welcoming the approval, the senior department officers said that this would help them solve the specialist doctor shortage  now crippling the health services, particularly in the medical facilities operating in the mountain areas.
