Car swept away, youth killed

One youth died and two others survived when the car they were travelling in was swept away while crossing a swollen rivulet within Kaladhungi police station limits. The car was going from Kotabagh to Patalia. The incident happened at around 11:30 PM on Monday when the car was crossing the Gharudi rivulet. While one died the two others were rescued by the local people.
The three youths were identified as Deepak Rastogi, Deepu Kuniyal and Anand Singh Bisht, all from Patalia village. Deepu and Anand survived with the timely action of the locals while Deepak was swept away in the strong current whose body was recovered by SDRF personnel this morning about 10 km away from the spot.
CO, Ramnagar, Sumit Pandey said that the police have been appealing to people not to cross rivers and streams during the rainy season. “But people are taking risks which is leading to such accidents,” he added.
