Acting on the instructions of the Election Commission of India, the state’s chief electoral officer, BVRC Purushottam conducted a virtual review of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme involving the voter list based on the eligibility date of July 1. He later said that necessary guidelines were given during the virtual meeting to all the district magistrates/district election officers, municipal commissioners, deputy district election officers and electoral registration officers (EROs) among others to ensure that an appropriate action plan is drawn up.

The CEO stressed on implementation of the SIR drive as per the schedule set by the Election Commission. “The BLOs should be trained well so that they work efficiently leaving no scope for mistake. It is also to be ensured that the BLOs of all political parties are present during the revision work. If due to someone’s mistake, someone’s name gets deleted from the electoral roll, time will be given for including the name,” he said, adding that meetings should be held with the public representatives too at the local levels so that there is no confusion later.
Among those who participated in the virtual meeting were the district magistrate/district election officer Nitin Singh Bhadauria, additional district magistrate Kaustubh Mishra, municipal commissioner Shipra Joshi and assistant election officer Rajendra Singh Adhikari.
