Children’s Traffic Park in Dehradun to soon become operational

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun
The construction work for the Children’s Traffic Park in Dehradun is nearing completion and is currently in its final phase of beautification. This park, designed to teach school students about road safety and traffic rules in an engaging way, is located within the City Forest Park developed by the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) near the Sahastradhara helipad.
Construction on the park began in 2024 and is being carried out under the supervision of the State Transport department. However, reports had earlier indicated that the construction work experienced delays and is now in the final stages. Regional transport officer (Enforcement and Road Safety) for the Dehradun division, Anita Chamola stated that the construction of the traffic park is almost complete. She noted that the monsoon season had witnessed heavy rainfall, which delayed the beautification work. Currently, the beautification efforts are ongoing, and with these final steps, the traffic park is expected to open soon, with an inauguration anticipated in November. She also informed that a similar Children’s Traffic Park is under construction in the Haridwar district.
It is pertinent to mention that the prolonged construction of the park has become a matter of concern, as it is located within the already functional City Forest Park, where visitors frequently gather. The extended construction period has indirectly affected the experience of people visiting the City Forest Park.
The Children’s Traffic Park will cover an area of 1.5 acres within the MDDA park premises and will feature specially designed routes for children. This setup will provide them with practical experience in road safety and traffic behavior. Additionally, the park will include an auditorium featuring 7D films focused on road safety for students and children.
