PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has identified designated dog feeding points in 21 wards of the city as part of efforts to manage street dogs and minimise human-animal conflict.

MCD senior veterinary officer Dr Varun Aggarwal said that the ward-wise feeding locations have been marked in areas such as Kaulagarh, Ballupur, Yamuna Colony, Vasant Vihar, Defence Colony, Turner Road, Race Course, Kedarpur, Mothorawala, Sewla Kalan, Mohebewala, Chanderbani, Navada and Nathuwala among others. Multiple feeding points have been approved in localities like Vasant Vihar, Defence Colony, Turner Road and Mothorawala where the street dog population is comparatively higher.

Aggrawal said that the identified spots include residential colonies, MDDA areas and internal roads, among other locations. The initiative aims to ensure controlled and humane feeding of stray dogs while maintaining public safety, hygiene and order in residential areas.

Residents have been advised to feed street dogs only at the designated points to avoid complaints and disputes. He added that the list of feeding points will be reviewed periodically and new locations may be added based on ground assessment and public feedback.
