CM Dhami hikes ex-gratia amount of PVC recipients, greets soldiers on eve of Kargil victory day

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved the proposal of the Soldier Welfare department to increase the ex- gratia amount given to recipients of Param Vir Chakra (PVC) from existing Rs 50 lakhs to Rs 1.5 crore. The PVC recipients will continue to get the annual grant of Rs three lakhs per year.
CM Dhami had made an announcement to increase the ex- gratia amount for the PVC recipients, while addressing a programme in Khatima recently. Following the announcement of the CM, the formal order was issued on the eve of the Kargil Vijay Diwas on Friday.
In his message on the eve of Kargil Vijay Diwas, CM Dhami paid tribute to the courage and bravery of the Indian Army and said that the country will always remember the sacrifice of the martyrs who laid down their lives for the country. He said that in the Kargil war, a large number of brave sons of Uttarakhand played a leading role and sacrificed their lives to protect the country. Their sacrifice will continue to inspire the new generation.
Dhami said that our soldiers have always brought glory to the country with their valour and courage. He said that apart from being Devbhoomi, Uttarakhand is also a Veerbhoomi.
Dhami said that Uttarakhand has a rich military tradition as heroes from almost every family have been contributing to the defence of the country for generations.
The CM added that the State government is committed to the welfare of the soldiers and their families and is constantly taking concrete and effective decisions to protect their interests.
