The chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami said that standards and quality are strong foundations of a developed and self-reliant India while addressing the 79th foundation day celebrations organised by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Dehradun branch at his residence on Tuesday. A number of public representatives, senior administrative officers and representatives of industries attended the celebration.
In his keynote address, Dhami lauded the role of the BIS, stating that its efforts are crucial in promoting safe, quality and standards-based products in the State. He urged industries and consumers to adopt standard markings, including ISI.
In his address, the head of BIS, Dehradun, Saurabh Tiwari said that the BIS has been tirelessly working to strengthen the quality culture in the country, protect consumer interests and enhance the global competitiveness of Indian industries. He emphasised the need for effective coordination between government, industry and consumers for the success of campaign for standardisation.
Among those present were the Cantt MLA Savita Kapoor; Rajpur MLA Khajan Das and Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’. Besides them, the director general, UCOST, Durgesh Pant and director, Education, Vandana Garbyal were present.
In the final phase of the event, the BIS felicitated industries, organisations and other stakeholders who have made significant contributions to quality, standardisation and consumer protection.
