Complete all works for Kumbh 2027 on time: CS to officers

 Chief secretary Anand Bardhan conducted an inspection of the various projects underway for the Kumbh 2027 in Haridwar on Thursday. In the visit he directed the officers to ensure that all projects are completed within the stipulated time frame.

The CS inspected the under construction Ghats under construction from Kamadhenu Ghat to Singhdwar, located on the left bank of the Upper Ganga Canal and the Bairagi Camp Ghat. 

He said that all the Ghats should be constructed according to modern standards, keeping in mind the convenience, safety, and smooth movement of the devotees, so that there is no chaos during the Kumbh.

The CS said that ramps should be constructed at the Ghats for the convenience of the elderly and the disabled and said that arrangements for changing rooms and toilets should also be made.

He added that Green Ghats having green belts should be developed for Kumbh.

In his visit the CS also inspected the widening and strengthening work on the Bahadrabad-SIIDCUL road. He said that this road is crucial for the smooth flow of traffic during the Kumbh Mela.

The CS conducted an on-site inspection of the Haridwar Bypass Ring Road project. He directed NHAI officials to complete the bypass construction work without delay and to set weekly targets and regularly review progress against the timeline.

In his visit, the CS also inspected the Command and Control Centre and reviewed the security and surveillance arrangements.

Bardhan said that the Kumbh Mela -2027 is a highly important and international event which will be attended by a large number of devotees from across the country. Consequently, all departments must work with complete responsibility and dedication. He directed that, along with construction work, traffic management, security arrangements, cleanliness, lighting and other basic amenities should be given equal priority.

On a stern note, the CS said that regular monitoring of all projects should be ensured and any problem should be resolved promptly.

 Secretary Urban Development Nitesh Jha, Garhwal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, IG Garhwal Rajiv Swaroop, Mela Officer Sonika, district magistrate Mayur Dixit and others accompanied the CS.
