MoU inked: Agniveers from GRRC to receive degrees from HNBGU

The Agniveers from the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre, Lansdowne, will now be receiving degrees from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal (Central) University (HNBGU).  This was announced after a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Garhwal University and the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre, Lansdowne (GRRC). The vice- chancellor, Garhwal University, Shriprakash; the university’s registrar, Rakesh Kumar Dhori and GRRC Lansdowne Commandant, Vinod Singh Negi signed the agreement. 

The university officials said that the faculty from various departments have developed a diploma and certificate course for the Agniveers over an eight-month period. “This is a skill-based course and Garhwal University will for the first time conduct such an educational programme for military welfare,” informed a  HNBGU officer.  

Addressing the event, GRRC commandant said that the multi-domain training of Agniveers has taken a new dimension. “Garhwal University has also taken a significant step towards becoming a scholar warrior which will prove to be a milestone for them in the future,” he added. 

He further said that this agreement would not only encourage the Agniveers but also empower them in their lives to serve the nation and ensure national security, ensuring a bright future for them. He also exhorted the students of Garhwal University to come forward to serve the nation. 

Addressing the programme, the VC, HNBGU said that his university felt proud in being provided with the opportunity to work alongside the protectors of the motherland. “Garhwal University will make positive efforts in the coming years to ensure that its name and identity transcend the nation’s borders,” he said.
