The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Pramendra Singh Dobal on Saturday directed police officers to step up action against drug traffickers and keep a close watch on people involved in the illegal drug trade.
The SSP asked all station in-charges to identify habitual drug traffickers and open their history sheets. “Police were directed to identify properties acquired through illegal activities and take action for their seizure as per law,” Dobal said. He warned officers of strict action if complaints related to drug trafficking were ignored.
The chief fire officer was directed to conduct fire safety audits at hospitals, hotels, restaurants, major markets and firecracker warehouses. Establishments found violating safety rules will be issued notices and asked to correct the deficiencies within a fixed period.
In view of the upcoming elections, police were asked to identify anti-social and disruptive elements and take preventive action against them. Officers were also directed to monitor social media and act against the spread of misleading information.
Police were told to increase visibility at crowded places and strengthen evening and night checking. Traffic plans were also ordered for busy markets and roads during festivals.
The SSP further reviewed pending investigations, CCTNS updates and cybercrime complaints. Officers were directed to speed up investigations pending for more than six months. He said that station in-charges would face departmental action if cases or public complaints were unnecessarily delayed.
