Dental wing OPD commences at Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The dental wing outpatient department (OPD) officially commenced at the Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital on Friday, following its relocation (Shift) from the Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital.  Principal medical superintendent at the hospital Dr Yatendra Singh provided details about this transition, explaining that previously, dental procedures were performed at the District Hospital. However, the limited space available for dental services there significantly restricted patient attendance capabilities. The district hospital had only two dental chairs, leading to a low number of patients being treated each day, with many others left waiting until the next day, he said.

He further informed that to address these issues,  the dental wing from the District Hospital has now shifted to  the Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital. The OPD at the dental wing began operations on Friday and it is anticipated that surgical procedures will start next week.

Singh further noted that the dental wing has been relocated to the second floor of the Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital, equipped with eight dental chairs. This setup has significantly increased the capacity for attending to patients and doctors concerned can treat many patients at one time. Five doctors who previously worked at the district hospital’s dental department—Dr Pankaj Kohli, Dr Charu Bahuguna, Dr Chandni Ghildiyal, Dr Yukti Dobhal and Dr Shobhit Pal Singh—have also been transferred to the Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital. Additionally, two technicians and one ward boy have moved to the new dental wing, he said.

Singh added that given the expanded scope of the wing, additional manpower has already been demanded from the authorities concerned; along with this, infrastructure will be requested as needed.
