Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday accused Congress of running a negative political agenda during the State’s 25th foundation day celebrations, calling it a disrespect to martyrs. The party said that Congress leaders focussed on political opposition instead of joining the public in the event. The BJP  State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt said that if there were gaps in the State’s development according to the dreams of activists, Congress governments bear the responsibility. He added that leaders of the party that opposed State formation showed no signs of happiness during the celebration. Bhatt criticised Congress for spreading false narratives comparing the past 15 years with the last 10 years of governance, which he said failed to gain traction. He said that under BJP’s double-engine government, the State is seeing comprehensive development. He held Congress accountable for stopping the industrial package introduced by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, promoting corruption and protecting mafia involvement in government appointments. He accused the party of making policies favouring liquor and mining mafias and of changing the State’s demographic for vote-bank politics. He expressed disappointment that Congress and other opposition parties did not celebrate the foundation day with the public and instead continued their negative political agenda. Bhatt urged all political parties to refrain from political disputes on significant State occasions.
