Drug-addict held for stealing from temple’s donation box

Acting on the complaint filed by the president of a temple committee based in Herbertpur, Vikasnagar on July 27, alleging theft of money from the temple’s donation box, Vikasnagar police arrested the accused during checking drive on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday and recovered Rs 7990 from him. Identified as Arshad, he is learnt to be a drug addict, aged around 30 years, resident of village Bairagiwala, under Sahaspur police station . As per police, he barged into the Shiva temple on the night of July 26, broke open the donation box and stole the money from it, age 30 years.
Based on the complaint, FIR No 225/2026, Section 305(A) BNS, was registered at the Vikasnagar police station.
Police further said that the accused had told them during interrogation that being a drug addict, he had committed the crime to buy narcotics.
