PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

A drug warehouse is all set to come up at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya District Hospital soon. Providing details of the upcoming addition to the facilities available at the hospital, the principal medical superintendent, Dr Manu Jain said that the hospital administration often encounters challenges in storing medications due to insufficient storage space. “We have been using a single room on the hospital premises as inventory. But that space is inadequate and it also lacks the facilities required for proper medication storage. To address this issue, a report was submitted to district magistrate Savin Bansal in January, along with a proposal for setting up the drug warehouse. The DM approved it soon enough and allocated Rs 6, 11,000 to the district hospital administration for the purpose,” he stated.

Jain further said that subsequently, the hospital administration had invited the tender and construction of the drug warehouse had commenced.

“Things are going on fast and it is now in its final stages. We hope that it will begin   operations in the next ten days. We have already deployed officials to run the warehouse,” he added.

The hospital sources said that once it comes up it will increase   the hospital’s capacity to stock a larger quantity of medications and this will ultimately benefit the patients who visit the facility.

Notably, the drug warehouse is coming up on approximately 900 square meters, adjacent to the new building.

Plus, construction of a blood bank is currently in progress and is expected to be completed soon.
