The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm by Muslims in various parts of Uttarakhand on Saturday. After the sighting of the crescent moon on Friday marking the end of the holy month of Ramzan, the Muslims celebrated Eid on Saturday.
The celebration took place under strict security measures implemented by the authorities to ensure a peaceful observance of the festival.
To mark the occasion, members of the Muslim community dressed in new clothes and traditional attire wished everyone and distributed sweets.
In the provisional State capital, Dehradun, the members of the Muslim community gathered in Eidgah and mosques in the morning to offer Namaz. The Sahar Qazi Mufti Hashim Ahmed Qasmi led the Namazis in offering the Eid Namaz at the Eidgah located on Chakrata road.
To facilitate the Namazis in performing their prayers, several routes were diverted by the administration on Saturday. After offering morning Namaz, the members of Muslim community hugged one another and distributed sweets.
